Utopia
Science Fiction
Utopia Science Fiction selected my short story, "The Northernmost Side," for its October issue.
A subdued story, "The Northernmost Side" follows an unsuccessful traveling salesman along his journey to the end. Information about
Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, which creates zombie ants, is intertwined into the tale.
Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine
"Downstairs," my short horror story, was published in Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine's Fall 2016 issue. The story contains several critical plot twists that cannot be shared here due to spoilers.
Horror has been my favorite genre for years. I anticipate this being the case for the remainder of my days. Not so much slasher, but the quiet, psychological thrillers.
Horse & Academy
Horse & Academy
My monthly column, "Waiting for My Hay," came straight from the horse's mouth.
Goldie, a fictional lesson horse, passed his time waiting for dinner by giving the readers tips on all things horse-related.
Goldie quickly became a fan favorite. Nearly all of the readers who complimented the magazine told the editor how much they enjoyed reading Goldie's column every month.
I also conducted interviews with local business people. Print copies of the magazine available upon request.
HauteButch
I wrote a weekly blog for the Haute Butch clothing company. Most of my blog posts were self-conceptualized, although some topics were at the request of the owner of company.
I wrote, edited, and published each post on WordPress. I selected and published appropriate images for each post as well.
I also created and published their social media blasts on Instagram and Facebook five times a week. In only two months, the company's IG followers increased by 18%.
Wallflower
Wallflower is my brain child. I designed and created this magazine for a magazing editing class at UMKC. I am responsible for all of the design features and edits of the material.
With the exception of my story, "Bigfoot Sighting in Strawberry Hill," all content was provided by classmates who sent me their material to insert into the magazine.
